People often ask me what a past life regression hypnosis session actually feels like.
The truth is, it usually feels far more natural than people expect.
After more than forty years of guiding people through this work, I’ve found that most arrive carrying tantalizing curiosity, and some have a healthy amount of skepticism. They worry they might lose control, fall asleep, or somehow make the whole experience up.
Then something unexpected happens.
They relax into the experience and are filled with wonder.
My own first past life regression happened over four decades ago. I had been fascinated by the subject for years and eagerly awaited the opportunity to experience it for myself.
Guided gently into a trance state, I closed my eyes and allowed the concerns of everyday life to drift into the background.
Then an image slowly began to emerge from the darkness, as if the shutter of an old camera were opening.
At first there was only a single flame—a torch fixed to a stone wall. Then, the image grew wider.
I found myself looking down a long hallway lined with rough stone blocks. As I moved forward, I glanced through an open doorway to my right and saw several men gathered around a heavy wooden table, deeply engaged in some political discussion.
I knew immediately that I had no business entering that room. I was a young girl living in my uncle’s manor in England during the 1100s. I quickly ran to the end of the hall and up the stairs.
The experience felt completely real, yet I remained fully aware that I was sitting safely in an office.
That is one of the great misconceptions about hypnosis: you do not entirely forget where you are and what you are doing here. Rather, you allow your attention to turn inward to a more interesting adventure.
I explain it as being similar to waking from an intense dream. You call your friend and are describing the details. You can still see the images, feel the sensations and emotions, and connect with how real it all was. And yet, you know perfectly well that you are talking on the phone with your friend. This dual awareness is what you can expect during a past life regression hypnosis session.
What Happens During Past Life Regression Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state that we all enter every day. We experience it while driving a familiar road, becoming absorbed in a good book, or losing ourselves in music.
Past life regression hypnosis uses that natural state to explore deeper levels of the subconscious mind.
As the analytical mind grows quiet, memories, emotions, patterns, and impressions begin to emerge. Some people experience vivid scenes. Others know things they didn’t know before or see flashes of images.
Whether these experiences are literal memories or the language of the subconscious mind matters less than the understanding they bring. The narrative itself is not as important as the realization of the soul’s patterns.
Why Explore Past Lives?
Over the years, I’ve watched people uncover remarkable connections between their past life experiences and their present lives.
- An unexplained fear suddenly makes sense.
- A difficult relationship reveals a deeper history.
- A talent that seemed to come from nowhere finds its roots.
- A current challenge points to unfinished business from a past life.
Other times, it simply carries wisdom.
One of my clients spent this lifetime in traumatic situations to the extent that she was unable to feel safe anywhere. She carried the stress of constant vigilance, suspicion, and self-protection. She knew this perspective was not realistic or healthy. But she couldn’t shake the fear.
Taking her back through past life regression hypnosis, she went straight to a lifetime where she was a young girl playing, unconcerned with the problems of the world. She was safe, happy, and free. There were people in the background, but she was not pulled in any direction by people or the events in her world. Her life was calm, secure, and supported. Even as she grew older, her choices and experiences supported this serene perspective.
As she returned to her current life perspective, she carried the understanding that not all of the world was threatening and not all families endured violence. Her shoulders dropped, her nervous system soothed, and she stated she could set down some of her armor. It’s OK to be aware of your surroundings, but not to live in a state of fight-or-flight.
The Purpose Is Not Proof
People often ask me whether I believe past lives are real.
After thousands of sessions, I think there is a better question.
What if your subconscious mind holds memories, wisdom, and experiences that your conscious mind has forgotten?
Whether we call them past lives, symbolic stories, or soul memories, they often reveal exactly what we need to understand ourselves more fully.
The purpose of past life regression hypnosis is not to convince anyone of a particular philosophy.
It is to bring clarity where there was confusion.
Peace where there was fear.
Understanding where there was once only mystery.
Is Past Life Regression Hypnosis Safe?
One of the most common concerns people have is whether they will lose control.
The answer is no.
Throughout the entire experience, you remain aware and able to speak, move, or end the session if you choose. Most people describe it as deeply relaxing and surprisingly enlightening.
The role of the practitioner is not to tell you what to see. It is simply to create a safe space where your own inner wisdom can emerge.
Over the years, I have learned to trust that the subconscious mind knows exactly where it is most valuable to go and will only reveal what you are ready to witness.
A Doorway to Self-Discovery
People often imagine that past life regression hypnosis is about traveling backward in time.
I have come to see it differently. I believe it is a journey inward. We may uncover old wounds. Typically, we rediscover forgotten strengths and talents. And mostly, we remember that we are part of a much larger book than the single chapter we happen to be living today.
Past life regression hypnosis opens a door and reminds us that what we have been searching for has been within us all along.
