One of my passions in my practice is helping people recall their past life memories. Each client will have a unique experience.
Why do some people effortlessly recall vivid past-life experiences while others struggle to see, hear, or feel anything at all?
Over the years, I have discovered that the answer often has less to do with psychic ability and more to do with how we naturally process information.
Many people assume that recalling past life memories means seeing a movie unfold in their minds. When this doesn’t happen, they conclude they aren’t capable of remembering past lives.
Yet memory doesn’t work that way for everyone. That isn’t always the easiest way to access past life memories.
Some people remember through images.
Others remember through sounds.
Still others remember through feelings, sensations, emotions, or simply a deep inner knowing.
The same sensory channels we use to experience this lifetime often become the doorway through which we access our past life memories.
The Connection Between Memory and the Senses
Think about one of your favorite childhood memories.
How did it return to you?
Perhaps you saw a vivid image.
Maybe you remembered a familiar voice.
Possibly you recalled the scent of your grandmother’s kitchen or the feeling of sunshine on your skin.
Our memories are stored through sensory experiences.
The more senses involved in an event, the more likely we are to remember it later.
This is why significant life events often remain so vivid.
A wedding.
A graduation.
The birth of a child.
A serious accident.
A funeral.
These experiences create what I call a memory cluster—a collection of sights, sounds, feelings, smells, and emotions woven together into a powerful memory.
The richer the sensory experience, the easier it becomes to retrieve.
Why Past Life Memories are Challenging to Recall
Many people spend their lives focused everywhere except the present moment.
We worry about the future.
Analyze relationships.
Replay old conversations.
Create imaginary scenarios.
Meanwhile, the present moment slips by unnoticed.
If we fail to fully experience the present, we create fewer memories.
The same principle applies when exploring past life memories.
Sometimes clients struggle because they are searching for a specific type of experience instead of paying attention to how information is naturally arriving.
A client may insist:
“I don’t see anything.”
Yet when I ask how they feel, they immediately describe a strong emotion or physical sensation.
Another may not feel anything but can clearly hear words, sounds, or conversations.
Others simply know things without understanding how they know them.
All of these are valid forms of recall.
The Physical Senses and the Clair Senses
Most people are familiar with the five physical senses:
- Sight
- Hearing
- Touch and feeling
- Smell
- Taste
Less familiar are the intuitive senses often called the clair senses.
These include:
- Clairvoyance — clear seeing
- Clairaudience — clear hearing
- Clairsentience — clear feeling
- Clairalience — clear smelling
- Claircognizance — clear knowing
In my experience, there is often a connection between a person’s dominant physical sensory style and the intuitive channel they naturally access.
The way you process information in everyday life may reveal how you access intuition, spiritual guidance, and past life memories.
Are You Primarily Visual?
Visual people tend to remember through pictures.
They often speak quickly, use visually oriented language, and can easily create mental images.
You may hear them say:
- “I see what you mean.”
- “Let’s look at it another way.”
- “I have a vision for the future.”
When recalling memories, visual people often glance upward as they access images.
If you are visually oriented, your strongest intuitive channel may be clairvoyance.
Are You Primarily Auditory?
Auditory people remember sounds, conversations, music, and words.
They often learn best through listening and are highly sensitive to tone and language.
You may hear them say:
- “That sounds right.”
- “I hear what you’re saying.”
- “That rings a bell.”
When recalling information, they often glance sideways toward their ears.
If this sounds familiar, clairaudience may be one of your strongest intuitive gifts.
Are You Primarily Kinesthetic?
Kinesthetic people are feelers.
They rely heavily on emotions, physical sensations, instincts, and gut reactions.
They often speak more slowly because they take time to process information internally.
You may hear them say:
- “That doesn’t feel right.”
- “I know it in my gut.”
- “That really moved me.”
When recalling memories, they frequently look downward as they access internal feelings and sensations.
These individuals often have strong clairsentient abilities.
A Common Mistake When Accessing Past Life Memories
One of the most common mistakes people make when attempting to recall past lives is assuming they must see vivid images.
If your natural way of processing information is through feelings, hearing, or knowing, visual techniques may frustrate you.
The key is to trust the channel through which information naturally arrives.
A kinesthetic person may never see a detailed scene, yet they may instantly know they are standing on a battlefield, feel fear in their chest, or sense the weight of armor.
An auditory person may hear voices, music, names, or conversations.
A visual person may see detailed landscapes, clothing, and faces.
Each experience is equally valid.
Strengthening Your Recall
One of the best ways to improve past-life recall is to strengthen your awareness in everyday life.
Pay attention to what you see.
Notice sounds.
Observe physical sensations.
Become aware of smells, textures, emotions, and subtle impressions.
The more fully you experience the present, the more information your consciousness records.
And the more information your consciousness records, the more skilled you become at accessing memory in all its forms, including past life memories.
The Language of the Soul
In my years of facilitating past life regressions, I have learned that the soul speaks many languages.
Sometimes it speaks through images.
Sometimes through feelings.
Sometimes through sounds.
Sometimes through an unmistakable inner knowing.
The key is not forcing past life memories to appear in a particular way. The key is learning to recognize the language your soul already uses.
When you do, the doorway to past life recall often opens naturally.
The memories have been there all along. You simply needed to discover how you receive them.
